Class Description:

Are you forever searching for that perfect cushion with matching placemats ..not to mention different coloured napkins? Do you like fun and personalised tablecloths or placemats for birthdays? Well…. Look no further! Here is the class for you.

In this class you will learn to insert a zipper, making both sides of the cushion usable, providing you with a whole lot of possibilities for getting creative.

This zipper technique is also transferrable to so many other sewing projects.

You will learn to make mitred corners suitable for placemats, tablecloths and napkins without the maths! Quick, easy and looking fantastic. And again, you can use the technique in so many other projects, not just home furnishings.

Here is your chance to change the décor or simply adding the home furnishings you have not yet been able to find.

Make personal presents for family and friends with great flair and professional finishes.

Project:

• Cushion cover with a lapped, inserted zipper.
• Placemats, napkins etc with mitred corners

• Class notes on the techniques practiced in class for future use
• Plenty of coffee and tea with something delicious to keep us going all day

What you need to bring:

• Bring you own lunch. Full kitchen facilities are available. Weather permitting, we will be enjoying our lunch in the garden. Morning tea is provided.
• Cushion: 50 cm of quilting cotton, cotton duck or lighter weight cotton drill and a
• 30 cm zipper.
• Placemat: 40 cm of quilting cotton, cotton duck or lighter weight cotton drill
• Napkin: 45 cm of cotton. The quilting cottons are a great first choice.
• Note that you will have enough fabric for a minimum of 2 each of the placemats and napkins with the above amount of fabric, depending on the width.
• Your sewing machine and general sewing equipment such as pins, fabric shears, seam ripper etc bring your machine manual if you have one.
• Threads are available for purchase

Skill Level:   This class is recommended for the sewists who are comfortable using their machine and have beginner sewing skills.
